Escape from Dol Guldur - Progression Series #3

Description

A pair of decks intended to be played against Escape from Dol Guldur, for use in the Lord of the Rings: the Card Game Progression Series. Steward of Gondor is probably best played on Eowyn, whereas Beravor is probably an ideal candidate for Horn of Gondor. Use Theodred to channel enough resources to Eowyn to fund Northern Tracker, Unexpected Courage, etc. Good luck!

If you want to build these two decks, but only have two cores, may I suggest the following changes. It's pretty easy for the Lore/Tactics deck:

  1. Replace the third copy of Henamarth Riversong with a third Gléowine.
  2. Replace the third copy of Horn of Gondor with a third Dwarven Axe.

The Leadership/Spirit deck contains mostly three-ofs and therefore you can't just switch stuff around like in the other deck (you could replace a Celebrían's Stone with another For Gondor!, but what are you going to do about Unexpected Courage?). Hence I cheated a bit and tried to find cards that serve similar purposes to Stone and Courage outside of the core set:

  1. Replace the third Celebrían's Stone with a Sword that was Broken. Of course, normally if you are including Sword it would at least be a two- and probably a three-of, but I wanted to stay to the original deck as close as possible. Sword and Stone both have willpower boosting effects and they both go on Aragorn, so this replacement makes a lot of sense to me.
  2. Replace the third Unexpected Courage with Miruvor. Miruvor doesn't offer readying as easy and as plentiful as Courage does, but it makes up for it by being cheaper and more versatile.
