Wizenedstaff 30

This is perhaps my strangest build yet! 35 threat is out of my comfort zone. I had two goals here, united for I know not what reason! I wanted to see if I could have a powerhouse hero line-up in Spirit and make Over Hill and Under Hill Gandalf viable! My thinking was I wouldn't need my usual ally swarm with strong heroes and this mighty ally. To this end, I have loaded up on threat reduction, with Galadriel's Handmaiden, Elrond's Counsel and The Galadhrim's Greeting featuring prominently. The weakest attribute of my heroes is defence, so Guardian of Rivendell and Háma are there to help with that, as is the friendly wizard, of course. Cirdan and Idraen can help with questing through Silver Circlet and Warden of Arnor respectively, and Theoden becomes quite the action man with Herugrim and Snowmane. Unexpected Courage also makes these versatile heroes very useful. The real strength of this deck when it works well is its versatility. Cirdan's ability allows you to think of options each round as the game evolves and discarding a copy of Elwing's Flight for its boost on a second or third draw feels good too. This is certainly the most potent Spirit deck I've built, with Tale of Tinúviel and Fair and Perilous providing the sort of wallop you'd expect in a Tactics deck, but Spirit of course has the likes of A Test of Will so its usual strengths are here too!

I'd worry that Theoden wouldn't pull his weight for 12 Threat and only 8 Rohan Allies. Did you try the deck with other Spirit heroes in his stead?

you need either a teammate who protects you or in solo i would never play a monospirit-deck with high thread without good defender (means Beregond or Dáin Ironfoot)

@Marctimmins89 Thanks for the comment! I did wonder if the deck as a whole was viable, but as I said, it was an experiment. Actually, I was pleasantly surprised! Theoden, like the other heroes, ends up contributing to the versatility of the deck. It's not infrequent that I've ended up with Snowmane or Unexpected Courage on Theoden along with Herugrim. His Rohan ally discount can come in useful, especially early on, when getting chumps or a decent defender in Háma can be really useful alongside some key attachments or allies.

@doomguard So I would normally think too, but I was pleasantly surprised! In practice, the reasonable defence of each of the heroes for the first round, the availability of chumps and Cirdan's card draw mean you should be able to survive until you get one of the better defenders out and then be set. Admittedly, I don't have Beregond or Dáin Ironfoot, but I'm looking forward to having the latter when I get the Ered Mithrin repackaged expansion.

i can believe, but wouldn´t it better to keep those chumps and defend with a surviving defender? some people do (MotK) Jubayr as defending hero. includes shadowcancelling but cannot defend str 6 attk from the start without buffing. but let me asume, you do not have him either ;)
