My first foray into ALEP has been a lot of fun. I'm a long time fan of Trap decks and Celador is a star. Sadly the namesake event card ended up in the sideboard. I took Tactics Ally Pippin for the low threat but with Celador's regular Threat reduction makes me think I could've taken someone with bigger threat without losing much. Might revisit this one day. Mulligan for Seasoned Forager or one of the card draw options (Gleowine or Master of the Forge). You will very quickly find what you're looking for with 3 x Drinking Songs.

This seems like a pretty well-refined list. Is the DĂșnedain Pipe worth it? Also, why do you have 52 cards?

Thank you. I played with it plenty to get it to this point.

Dunedain Pipe is always something I look to include in Master of the Forge decks any time I can. I love being able to put an attachment I don't need right now back in the deck in exchange for another card (typically mid-late game). In the rare case of having it in hand before the Dunedain Hunters I just Drinking Song or Daeron's Runes it away.

As for the 52 cards, in a deck with this much card draw (including Drinking Song) and no particular card that needs to be found in the mulligan, I don't feel worried with 2 extra cards. If you wanted to try it with 50 exactly I'd suggest dropping 1 x It Should Be Spared and maybe one of the Tactics allies or the Dunedain Pipe.

i wonder if 1-2 Gondorian Shield are worth it? the rangers have defense 3 with it and can defend against weaker enemys or sme with Entangling Nets attached. would replace some of Defender of Rammas or Gondorian Spearman. and it cost 1 less than each of that allies, so there is 3-defense ready 1 rund earlier.

Sure you could try that.

Having a threat that tends to hover at 22-23 I had no interest in defending with one of the heroes. Even with a Gondorian Shield they'd only be 3/4 and 3/3 defenders. Not exactly same IMO. If I did end up engaged with something with Poisoned Stakes attached I'd use Gondorian Spearman, and if it was anything else I'd use the Defender of Rammas. Erebor Hammersmith I'd occasionally defend with if there were Entangling Nets on the attacker.

The other thing to note is Pippin would often have plenty of resources to spare, so I wouldn't drop the Defenders for Shields just for cost reduction.

what about engaged enemys from the start?

Put Forest Snare to 3x and mulligan for it or Drinking Song. Barring that, chump with a 1 cost ally and kill it with the 7 ATK of the heroes? Fair point though, this is not a deck that'll be happy with a turn 1 Forced engagement. If that was truly the situation I'd just swap Pippin for a decent Tactics defender for the game.
