Rohan's Answer

Description

Horseback Heroes Mark 2 adding more powerful comboes and tightening deck balance.

COOL COMBOES: Light the Beacons and/or Hour of Wrath with Stand Together and/or Hold the Line Can easily let you tank practically ANYTHING this game can throw at you in the combat phase. I haven't seen this combo anywhere, it might be overkill, but in our valour three hunters deck, it doesn't feel like overkill... It just feels thematic and stupidly powerful, letting you fight and defend together on the battlefield (often pulling shield numbers in the double digits).

Quick Strike/Firefoot/Strength and Courage combo to take two enemies with only Eomer and nuke them both.

Deck 1: Turn 1 Eomer hitting for 9 guarantee. Turn 2 hitting for 12 (likely, with it's fellowship deck, Elfhelm.) Every round playing 2 allies to help quest and combat for 1 resource. global readying effects, card draw, location control with Arod and snowborn scouts, and infinite loops for free (Lothirel, Gamling, rohirrim scout/Westfold lancer/Escort from Edoras) to damage in staging, prevent engagement, or quest 4 for freeeee. Combo Hama ability with Prince Imrahil and Light the Beacons to block everything for 7 Defense.

Deck 2: Heroes give passive buffs (Elfhelm mounts and Théoden willpower) and Théodred resources for the table. Can often get contract complete turn 1. Aids in board readying effects / questing + combat advantage. Can also roll out Range/Sentinel to itself or others.

Anyone, let me know your thoughts!

This has been the most fun Fellowship that I have played with my wife (Her favorite and my favorite). Fast paced and dynamic with questing and combat decisions for each player each round.

its solid, i think Éowyn might be better than Théoden, his ability is not much of use here.

you might be interested in this rohan-fellowship that was able to beat fortress of nurn (put Éomund into play with Lothíriel nearly every round so all can quest and fight)) : ringsdb.com

@doomguard Thanks for suggestion and shared deck! That's a really cool setup.

Prince Imrahil with Nor am I a Stranger works like a sneak attack for Éomund but it can also fish for him. The Muster of Rohan is a bigger fishing option. And Gamling can cycle him back to hand (While Lothíriel tucks him back into deck for Prince Imrahil to find again. It's a really fun game of hide and seek.

As for Théoden, I think he gets good value here with 3 tactics heroes on the board (He adds 5 willpower vs Éowyn's 4). His 3 attack and sentinel trait also give a lot of utility to the table (especially when he gets Armored Destrier from Elfhelm, letting him block then attack for 4, or block twice for the table). I think Théoden has really powerful traits that give him access to powerful attachments and events. He really is Rohan's mightiest all-around hero. And these decks aim to use their heroes for all their stats. (also he is one of my favorite book characters).

But you are right, Éowyn would be a beast in this deck for questing and for Hour of Wrath. (too bad she's not on horseback)

@Théoden i think, you usually do not use the tactic-heroes for questing, so his ability does not make much. specially at the start where every point counts and you will fight early or from start engaged enemies, you need eomer and imrahil for fighting and will not quest with them.

but if u ever try fortress of nurn, tell us, if you make it with your fellowship.

Prince Imrahil is almost always questing and using ability to block. Éomer hitting for 9 on turn 1 guarateed (12 after he finds Firefoot). Théoden given Snowmane to quest for free. And this deck honestly quests with everyone very often because of the cheap and repeatable Éomund cycling.

I will! Super thankful I have that quest. But I'm doing Angmar with my wife first. so I'll update after Cairn Dum first if we make it!
