tickler 248

tickler has a newer deck inspired by this one: Silvans with Thranduil and friends

The deck was designed as a partner deck to my Silvan deck based on The Burglar's Turn as a Silvan fellowship. Even the deck was intended to focus more on fighting, I found out that access to cards is more important than having access to cards in a Silvan deck.

The core character is of course Thranduil. He is the main defender (using The One Ring) and allows to play (!) Silvan allies during combat without needing a resource match. This gives you access to Legolas, Rúmil and Marksman of Lórien and works very well with Greenwood Archers. This provides enough to defeat your enemies.

Argalad was originally selected, because he is a Silvan, but he turned out to be a very useful quester especially with Light of Valinor or a Naith Guide. But the best is actually, that you can decide if to use the ability after you know what you face.

Finally, since Legolas is the only Silvan and does not really fit here, I chose Arwen Undómiel. She provides effective draw with Elven-light or trades cards against resources and gives access to Elrond's Counsel. And she is an elf too!

Generally, the deck plays like a typical Silvan deck except for you actually defend with Thranduil. You keep your threat low to choose what you want to fight and fill the boards with a lot of allies. Once the time has come, you start to play Host of Galadhrim as often as possible.

The deck cannot start as fast as decks with Celeborn and Galadriel, but still performs solo surprisingly well. The best I got was to beat the Dunland trap (without changing it). Obviously, adding Galion and Henamarth Riversong increases the solo performance - but they are required in the other deck.

However, with Celeborn on the table, the deck really shines! You can find more details in the fellowship description!
