trevorseidel 116

trevorseidel has a newer deck inspired by this one: Gandalf Visits

The goal of this deck is for a strong early game to enable quick wins (hopefully, haha). If you wait to long to advance the quest objectives, you will most likely get overrun while playing this deck.

During setup, search for Strider to attach to your hero by using The Grey Wanderer. The One Ring will allow you to pull Strength and Courage before drawing your starting hand. Strength and Courage boosts Saruman attack to 9 if needed.

Timely Aid, Sneak Attack, and Horns! Horns! Horns! should allow for Gandalf fun. Use Will of the West if too many copies of Gandalf end up in your discard pile.

Interesting. I would guess using gandalf for threat reduction would be pretty wasteful. But for the damage and card draw would be beneficial. And of course you have him for either combat or questing. But I agree... quite the opposite of a turtling deck. Get out fast.

I thought about Keys of Orthanc, but between The Grey Wanderer option for resource generation and Necklace of Girion, I decided not to go with it.

This deck looks like a lot of fun! But I was wondering, how does it play Feint? I've been looking through the deck for something I missed, but can't seem to find it.

Oops! I think I figured it out. Play it during the planning phase to stop an engaged enemy for the turn. I'm so used to using it when they engage. :P

You could also use Steward of Orthanc if you want to be able to play feint during combat phase. Since it would have doomed one, Saruman could then pay for it.

I believe Saruman's ability requires Doomed to be printed on the card.

Hahaha very kind way of saying "hey idiot read the card" yes, you are right, my bad.

We can just be even for my Feint mess up! No harm at all. :)

Actually Feint wouldn't work cause I play errata. So I'd replace that for something else.

Feb 25, 2020 Jtothemac 475

Hahahaha what we are all a mess it seems. How about The Ruling Ring. Since you are playing with the one ring, that should work.

Feb 25, 2020 trevorseidel 116

Ah yes, that would be the replacement!

Oof more threat? not a good idea! Feint doesn't work, and I wouldnt run the ruling ring... hmm, there must be something

You can certainly use The Ruling Ring here, remember that much of your doomed X are going to be reduced by Saruman's Staff. You just need to be very careful and thoughtful of your threat raise and assess its value at each play with this deck.

i would reduce the events and put more alies in, because timely aid may find no ally.

would dicard expect mischief and secred path for 6 more allies. make one or two of them a stargazer. and add wizards pipe to place an ally (gandalf?) on top for good use of timely aid. then u can play up to 9 gandalfs for 1 card 1 res. i also would add inner strenght, you can only have 1 gandalf in the combat phase
