So the hobbits are confined in their holes. What would they do to keep themselves entertained?

They would relax, smoke, sing, watch some netflix (they have an account), and practice social distancing. of course, medical staff is overworked.

This deck is essantially a fusion of some sort's "pippin gets a palantir" and splice's "Kick back and relax with some smoke rings". The two decks are very similar from the start, and this is my attempt at building a deck that accomplishes both goals.

The goals :

The deck serves three roles in multiplayer:

-Questing : With our 3 hobbits and Power of Command (on Rosie) we start questing at 9. It's not much but as we develop Fireside Song, Arwen Undómiel, Bilbo Baggins and a Fast Hitch on rosie (to use her ability during the quest phase, count her willpower twice) we climb up to high values (up to 33 ).

-Threat reduction : With Merry's ability (usable hile questing with Fast Hitch), Elrond's Counsel (playable with Arwen Undómiel), Smoke Rings, The Shirefolk and The Galadhrim's Greeting, we can reduce our threat to abysmally low levels. We can then absorb the other players's threat using Song of Eärendil as often as possible. when we run out of deck (we will), Will of the West all those events back into the deck and repeat.

-Scrying : Palantir comes with a very high cost in threat, but this deck can manage it easily. apart from the draw, the main payoff in multiplayer is the ability to see the top cards of the encounter deck during the planning phase, giving the players the necessary informations to prepare accordingly, and commit to the quest to their best benefit. Since Palantir only recognises nobility, we have to play Diligent Noble first. any hobbit with a Fast Hitch will do, but Rosie is preferable as having 2 Fast Hitch on her opens up some potential shenanigans.

The engine :

Card draw :

With 26 attachments Master of the Forge is reliable (and once we take off it serves as a chumper, with Rosie boosted attacks to take out the occasional ennemy). With all those threat reducing events each Hobbit Pipe should draw us once a turn, and of course Palantir is also card draw. On top of all that recurring card draw, Drinking Song and Peace, and Thought help get the engine started.

resource generation :

Starting with secrecy and maintaining it throughout most of the game lets us run 3 Resourceful (going on any hero that generates at least at the moment). We also have 2 copies of Love of Tales to reduce even further the costs of our already cheap curve.

Panic buttons : We need to play alongside decks that can handle combat, but if palantir reveals too much ennemies and we need to handle one ourselves, we can hold two minor hobbits from questing (Pippin and Bilbo will have the least will power) and not use Rosie's ability during questing. with Fireside Song and up to 6 songs on her and Power of Command and two Fast Hitch, rosie can buff one hobbit up to 9 or , which lets us block and destroy most ennemies.

We are very vulnerable to cards like necromancer's reach and other direct damage, as hobbits have very small health pools. since Warden of Healing only has 1 hp, i chose to include a copy of Imladris Caregiver instead. With our high amount of card draw we should be able to pay for it's cost. I also included 3 self-explainatory A Test of Will.

I am currently still working out how to balance the deck. In it's current state it tends to do it's things for 4-5 turns, barely pulling it's weight in willpower, but it explodes very quickly and puts a Palantir or a couple Fireside Song along with several threat reduction effects a turn. It is very fun to manage, and is surprisingly useful in multiplayer.

i would imagine 1 arwen is to few to get her save, she is the only noldor for elronds council, right?

would take her 2 or 3 but not shure what cards to discard for her. perhaps if the deck draws fast dont discard other cards. and because it is worth it and helps against nasty shadows put in one inner strength. some szenarios have enemys starting engaged with you or other things you have to defend. for 1 master of the forge i would add one gleowine (save one card more and you can use her for other player). for more safety in the long run, put in one Gaffer Gamgee, then you have more reason to gibe pippin 2 recourceful ^^ (additional healing and gaffer )

@doomguard

missing arwen is rarely a problem, if i have a counsel in hand without arwen i just use the other threat reduction events or drinking song it away. There is an argument for extra copies but the deck is very tight.

this deck is not meant for solo at all, adn usually there will be some sentinel or ranged on the table. if there is a one ring somewhere else on the table we can drop it (in fact i think Power of Command is probably not worth denying another sentinel hero his Inner Strength). keep in mind rosie's ability can make a big defender if necessary.

Gléowine is a good idea, i'll probably include her (perhaps cutting a Peace, and Thought as i most often find it to be useless)

if you want to boost rosie and leave the ring for others then celebrian stone adventure of the dunedain and or The Favor of the Lady

@doomguard good ideas, although with Fireside Song extra songs would serve that fonction while also helping with consistency and being cheaper thanks to Love of Tales.

i've been testing the deck this afternoon, and i'm starting to get a good idea of the changes to make, i'll update the list soon
