The deck is built around making Aragorn the primary defender and killing enemies before they get to attack. All those nasty shadow cards don't get to fire if the enemy does not get to attack.

Thalin quests every turn, his +1 damage on revealed enemies softens them up.

Glorfindel's primary use is to finish off damaged enemies. He does not need to quest until the third stage, so don't worry about his threat penalty.

Aragorn is the defender. Spear of the Citadel, Dúnedain Warning, Song of Wisdom, A Burning Brand and Unexpected Courage are all destined for Aragorn. Attach Alcaron's Scroll to Aragorn at the start of the scenario and have him take a little damage first round. That transfers the scroll to the attacking enemy and stops the extra encounter deck draw.

Use Fresh Tracks to help damage enemies as they come into the staging area. Swift Strike is a good follow up for the few enemies that have a lot of .

Gandalf's primary use is card draw or to deal direct damage an enemy. I never threated out in this scenario so don't worry about reducing your threat.

The deck has beat the scenario without using A Burning Brand. It could be swapped out, along with Song of Wisdom, for a couple of Sword that was Broken and Arwen Undómiel. Her +1 on Aragorn makes him even tougher. And she's very helpful for the last quest.

When the deck is humming, you won't need the Hasty Strokes, but they are helpful in the early game.

Longbeard Elder is a questionable include. In a multi-player game, his ability is great when you are the first player, as other players will be able to send characters on the quest with some knowledge of what's coming up. But, in a solo game, it's a bit of a gamble as to whether his ability will pay off. He could be swapped for some Guard of the Citadel or Arwen Undómiel.

Faramir was not included as the scenario requires us to get Alcaron's Scroll to Faramir. Seems a little against theme to have him in the party. But, if you are not concerned about that, his +1 is a great help in the last quest. I would swap out the Longbeard Elders for Faramir.
