I built this deck to accompany Merry, Pippin, and Sam Gamgee through The Black Riders saga. Even though it doesn't appear that strong, it packs quite a punch and we have so far defeated all of these Saga quests easily. It is so unbelievably gratifying to destroy Nazgul enemies utterly using 'Elf-Magic' (The Great Hunt, Out of the Wild, and The Door is Closed!), without having to resort to combat.

This is the most combat ready version of this deck meant to deal with the Breelander enemies in A Knife in the Dark. For less combat-heavy quests, I prefer to sub out copies of many of the allies for extra "magic" event cards like The Great Hunt, Far-sighted, The Hidden Way, Put Off Pursuit, or Gildor's Counsel.

Some quests might benefit from more attachments like Leather Boots, Map of Rhovanion, Stone of Elostirion, and Thrór's Key.

I rely on the other deck to provide more side quests to really get the most out of Legacy Blade, and Thalion. Frodo's resources are also perfect to help pay for the neutral cards, so resources tend not to be a problem for this deck.

if using motk for mirlonde (would say henemarth to keep in-theme), it starts in secrecy and do not loose much of its power. o.k. -1 attack or willpower, depends on what you use mirlonde, but secrecy and scrying is not bad.

with secrecy some recourcfull could be add or (i think, more important for this kind of deck) risk some lights.

you can also swap daerons runes with deep knowledge if you dont ned secrecy anymore or could set it back with keen as... specially with the guardian of rivendell, there is perhaps more cards needed than mithrandirs advice will bring ^^ and perhaps you partner enjoy some cards for thread.

why the ranger-spear? do u have any ranger?

i would put in some bartering. specialy if you have secrecy and recourcefull you can make samthing happen with the scroll even out of secrecy.

@doomguard: I appreciate the suggestions, but you are describing creating a completely different deck (secrecy). I think you miss the point of the theme of the deck which is to make the best possible use of cards that involve the victory display.

When/if I include Leave No Trace, these account for 18 of my 50 cards already. Starting at 20 threat is not very helpful and would require adding a bunch of cards to keep me in secrecy or else Resourceful etc become completely useless. There is simply no room to create a secrecy deck and a victory display deck combination and still leave room for a few allies and attachments.

If I were to use hero Henamarth Riversong for scrying, I would lose -2 attack or willpower, and Mirlonde is a good option for an undefended attack that does less than 3 damage to keep Argalad at 4 health, allowing him to take another undefended attack if needed. It just isn't worth 2 less starting threat.

I tried adding Risk Some Light, but when we play with 6 Out of the Wild, plus occasionally Put Off Pursuit and The Hidden Way, there is just too much shuffling of the encounter deck to make Risk Some Light worthwhile. The Great Hunt would make much better use of those 3 spots.

I use Mithrandir's Advice, Keen as Lances, Daeron's Runes and Scroll of Isildur for card draw, allowing me to often go through the entire deck. Even though I don't need secrecy, the hobbit deck does, so Deep Knowledge is just not worth it. I am even careful with a card like Far-sighted, because we cannot challenge the Nazgul until we are ready.

Ranger Spear is a bit of an extra card which goes on Thalion, but becomes very useful if the Nazgul get their sword or horse attachments.
