Mar 04, 2021Are you not afraid of threating out ? (especially with a Magic Ring) There is probably not enough room in for a Double Back or The Galadhrim's Greeting, but i would include at least one Favor of the Valar. Pillars of the Kings could be a good threat-reducing card with Vilya (possibly -9 ), but without Imladris Stargazer i think it would be to hard to time properly (i will keep this idea in the back of my head for another dumb deck). |
Mar 04, 2021For now between Secret Vigil, Woodmen's Clearing, Elrond's Counsel and Gandalf I was always able to avoid threating out, except against quests that are really heavy on threat increase (I would not bring this solo against Return to Mirkwood for example). |
Mar 05, 2021I really like the idea. The only thing that makes me nervous is the Magic Ring of course. But as you pointed out there are ways around it. Still, I wonder if you end up limiting its use because if the threat raising. In any case, the theme is the most fun part. Who do you plan on giving Sword-thain to? |
Mar 05, 2021Magic Ring is indeed only for real emergencies, but it can easily swapped out I guess if one feels it doesn't pull its weight. I guess I would switch it with a Favor of the Valar or a A Good Harvest or The White Council. Sword-thain usually goes on a Leadership ally if I need more Leadership resources since I keep using Elrohir's one to defend or on a Lore ally if I need the resources to fuel the Warden of Healing. Gildor, Erestor, Gimli and Legolas have all become heroes at some point. |
Mar 05, 2021Another extreme option would be to switch Magic Ring with Thorongil so that you can use it on ally you played Sword-thain on that also has an hero version, so Gimli could become Gimli or Gimli, Legolas could become Legolas or Legolas and so forth. But it's really remote as a possibility. |

Mar 05, 2021Elrond, due to its resource smoothing effect (and also to pay for the Wardens if needed). Yeah the Envoy of Pelargir are good in a Bond of Friendship deck, especially one with all heroes available as targets. The 2x Storm Comes is a mistake actually, it should be only 1x and 1x A Good Harvest |
