ellipticaltable 204

The Hobbits are going on an adventure, and they've brought some muscle. Grimbeorn starts strong, and just keeps getting stronger.

The best part of this deck is that all 3 Hobbit abilities get to shine.

  • Pippin shines in the early game, providing card draw and throttling engagements until ready.
  • Merry keeps the threat engine humming. I use a master card most rounds, not to mention the other ring.
  • Frodo is reliable threat reduction, plus a bit of action economy.

Grimbeorn handles most combat for the table. Spend your threat dial liberally to kill enemies, relying on Merry and Frodo Baggins to keep from reaching 45.

Fast Hitch and Hobbit Pony both go on Merry, so that he can quest and lower threat. If an enemy attacks during staging, this also allows you to ready and potentially trigger his ability a second time in a single turn. (I've managed to lower my threat by 9 in a single turn this way!)

This deck is intended for multiplayer, both for questing support and to maximize the odds of an enemy showing up each round. I've been pairing it with a quest-focused Noldor deck, which is why Steward is in the sideboard.
