I don’t know about sides. I go my own way; but your way may go along with mine for a while.

Treebeard, The Two Towers

The Ents Take a Side (Quest) is fun to play in a quest that allows for some turtle time at the beginning, like the Wilds of Rhovanion deluxe expansion. I had the most fun playing this against "Lost in Mirkwood" because of the forest theme.

The opening hand includes the typical mulligan for A Good Harvest and/or Steward of Gondor which can go on Aragorn to start paying for Ents. Thurindir wants to use Gather Information as the initial side quest to get either of these two missing pieces, followed by Scout Ahead to set up some smooth encounters while the Tree-herder continues to rouse Ents. The Storm Comes can then help get out the Booming Ent who becomes the deck's offensive powerhouse. Use Treebeard for some precision questing to make sure that you do not advance until your Ent army is sufficiently awakened!

The most enjoyable combinations in this deck are those allowed by the Hobbits and side quests. It is so satisfying to cancel a nasty When Revealed effect using the Halfling Bounder and when Gaffer Gamgee or Robin Smallburrow combos with The Dam Bursts late in the game to ready Ents for a big boss battle.

Thalion is not strictly necessary, but it's heart-warming to see Caleb Grace's approving visage on the table as he demonstrates, even to the reluctant Ents, that it can be fun to take a side (quest) along with you for a while!
