Darkling Door 6660
This is a thematic deck built for an ongoing series on my blog, Darkling Door.
Theme: Ancient friendship between Elves and Dwarves
Played Against: Nightmare Raid on the Grey Havens
“The words are in the elven-tongue of the West of Middle-earth in the Elder Days,” answered Gandalf. “But they do not say anything of importance to us. They say only: The Doors of Durin, Lord of Moria. Speak, friend, and enter. And underneath small and faint is written: I, Narvi, made them. Celebrimbor of Hollin drew these signs.”
—The Fellowship of the Ring, A Journey in the Dark
Strategy
A powerhouse Dwarf / Noldor combo deck that focuses on getting the most out of some strong heroes.
Tips
- Dwarves like discarding cards from the top of the deck, while Noldor like playing cards from the discard pile. Use mining cards like Dáin Ironfoot, Lay of the Nauglamír, and Zigil Miner as pseudo-card-draw to find your copies of cards like Elven-light, Salvaged Supplies, and Relic of Nargothrond and play them from the discard pile.
- The standard mining package can be found here too, with Ered Luin Miner and Hidden Cache benefiting you when discarded from your deck.
- Dáin Ironfoot is your main defender, while Glorfindel is your main attacker. Galdor of the Havens and Gildor Inglorion generally quest.
- Erebor Hammersmith and Ered Nimrais Prospector can be used to help retrieve any important attachments (like Light of Valinor) which get accidentally discarded.
- The deck may struggle against quests which are hard on your threat dial. Prioritize finding and playing Favor of the Valar and Elrond's Counsel when possible!
- Erebor Record Keeper and Lembas are great for readying Dáin Ironfoot to defend more enemies.
- Light of Valinor, Onward Into Battle, and Unexpected Courage help you get more use out of Glorfindel's stats.
- Generally you want to stack 2 weapon attachments on Glorfindel as early as possible. Once he's loaded up, Quick Strike becomes a great way to one-shot an enemy without having to defend it.

Sep 17, 2023Oh wow, you're totally right! For some reason I thought it read "at least 10 cards" but it says "exactly". In that case I think I'd cut the two Stargazers and a copy of Light of Valinor, Asfaloth, and a Mithlond Sea Watcher. 2x Gandalf is a good call-out for a replacement card. I think I'd want another copy of Favor of the Valar. The last slot is tricky, I think I might try Open the Armoury. I'll have to make the modifications and try the deck again! |
your deck does not it the rules of Bond of Friendship (to much spirit, tactic and lore)
you have to reduce 3 spirit, 1 tactic 1 lore, i would take out:
2 Sailor of Lune
1 Light of Valinor
1 Elven Spear
1 lembas
would put in (need 4 neutral):
