So a month or so ago, @chrsjxn published his Harad Starter Deck as part of his Deck Tech series. Alongside that post he also ran a contest giving away a copy of The Sands of Harad, which (to cut a short story shorter) I won. I thought this was particularly appropriate, since I only own the Core Set + Shadows of Mirkwood cycle - I'm pretty much the exact target audience.

This deck aims to update that deck to include Shadows from Mirkwood cards. I considered some alternative options for the third hero, but, particularly with all the direct damage flying around in the Sands of Harad quests, decided I did want a Lore hero for access to healing, and Beravor was still the obvious choice.

So what changes are there? The main difference is an increased focus on powering up the heroes instead of chump blockers, so in come Signals, as suggested by @chrsjxn - hence the name; Westfold Horse-Breakers; and an extra Daughter of the Nimrodel. The West Road Travellers provide efficient willpower; dropping the Northern Trackers may be a bit of a suprise but I found with only one hero they were just a bit too expensive.

Some comments: The resource balance is generally pretty good, which is why there aren't any resource smoothing cards (other than Gandalf). Particularly for the Sands of Harad quests, the Daughter of the Nimrodels are vital to get out so the relative lack of Lore cards doesn't result in a build up of resources on Beravor. With DĂșnedain Warnings powering Gimli up I don't find myself using the Dwarven Shields' ability much. but that's ok.

This deck has had success against the first two Sands from Harad quests (haven't tried the third yet).

You could possibly add The Storm Comes to help with resources. I was playing a Three Hunters deck recently with a ton of Doomed cards, and even then I found the resources to be tight.

No idea how I missed this when you posted it the first time.

Looks good! Glad you're enjoying the expansion.
