DECK NAME - Third Age Third Wheel

OVERVIEW - Solo progression has finally brought us to one of my favorite heroes - Galadriel! No better way to show her off than to pair her with Celeborn for my first Silvan deck in the progression. The Silvan archetype evolves to even greater heights in the future of the progression, but this deck works well against this quest (and is far from boring). And poor Grima gets to hang out with the married couple.

HEROES

  • Celeborn - attach Light of Valinor and O Lórien!
  • Galadriel - attach Steward of Gondor; use her action every planning phase; use her large SOG-fueled resource pool to play Gandalf from hand when adventageous
  • Grima - use his action every planning phase; his action with O Lórien! results in free 2-cost allies

STRATEGY

  • IMPORTANT - this deck only works because of the combination of Celeborn and Galadriel's effect; make sure to be procedural with these 2 effects
  • OPENING HAND - I usually mulligan for Steward of Gondor, but a generally options-rich hand is what we're looking for
  • STAGE 1 - choose Collapsed Tower as the location during set up; we will turtle here while we get things set up; I usually wait about 6-7 rounds before traveling to The Secret Chamber; the goal is to just do positive actions each round and keep momentum in your favor
  • STAGE 2 - make sure you have Gandalf or a chump ready for the Bellach immediate attack; quest for 12 progress in 1-2 rounds and then engage Bellach; using Sneak Attack/Gandalf we'll get him in one combat round and win the game
  • Galadhon Archer - use Daeron's Runes to discard GA and then play from discard using Stand and Fight; wait to play GA for when a Prowling Orc enters play; the 1 damage couples with Gandalf's response can take out this pesky enemy
  • Silvan Refugee - be careful with this ally as it leaves play when a character leaves play; use as a chump or as fuel for The Tree People
  • O Lórien! - combined with Grima's action all 2-cost allies will be free once a round
  • Ranger Spikes - always good to have one out if possible; can use with Henamarth Riversong's action to greater effect
  • A Test of Will - using Dwarven Tomb always make sure we have a copy of ATOW in hand; canceling when revealed effects gives us free rounds and huge tempo boosts
  • Daeron's Runes - use exclusively to discard Galadhon Archer
  • Island Amid Perils - use with Galadriel's Handmaiden or Galadhrim Minstrel only
  • Sneak Attack/Gandalf - make sure to save one for the final combat phase when we engage Bellach; also a good use is against A Prowling Orc; always okay to play Gandalf from hand as Galadriel will have resources to spend
  • Stand and Fight - use to play Galadhon Archer from discard; especially to put 1 damage on Prowling Orc (finish with Gandalf)
  • The Tree People - Silvan Refugee is best for this effect; it's okay to play Galadhon Archer with this effect, but saving GA's response for a Prowling Orc is usually better
  • BELLACH'S SCOUR EFFECT - I pick Orc Hunter (no when revealed because added) and try to set him up for an open Ranger Spikes if possible
