Troglo 88

A deck built around Theodred's financial and situational capacity.

As is often the case in this game, it is not so much a hero who is intrinsically strong, as the synergies and dynamics that other cards that accompany him allow. This deck, extremely effective, perfectly illustrates this principle with Theodred.

Setup

Attach the One Ring to Theodred and look for Power of Command, a card that will be attached to it. Thurindir retrieves Gather Information (which itself will retrieve either Steward of Gondor, or Heir of Mardil, or Visionary Leadership if you have already drawn the previous two). Do a mulligan on Steward of Gondor first.

Methodology

First, send the three heroes on a quest. All the aforementioned attachments will go to Theodred; Thurindir will inherit the two Legacy Blades.

Theodred first will be questing at 2, that will generate a resource that the hero will attribute to himself in order to trigger the response of the Heir of Mardil, stand up (which will avoid some treacheries), and, thanks to the Visionary Leadership and his guaranted resource, add +1 willpower for himself as the Gondor Steward (increasing his wp to 3) and for the Gondor allies. Theodred will be available to attack again during this turn.

For his part, Gildor will spend his resource each turn to trigger his draw action. With Prepare for battle, you will be able to systematically draw three cards per turn, and occasionally four thanks to Erestor as an ally.

On the financial side, you will collect 6 resources per turn (3 + 2 by the Steward of Gondor + 1 by Theodred), or even 7 if Thalion is in play while three side quests sit in the victory pile.

The rest is a swarm of solid allies, with setup and multiple draw effects (Soldiers of Gondor, A Very Good Tale, Master of the Forge, Erestor, Daeron's Runes), useful discard of duplicates (by the Wandering Exile, Erestor and Daeron's). The two Gondorians, Ioreth and the Warden of Healing, take care of the healing.
