A simple but not a no-brain archetype deck, whose efficiency is often widely underrated because of its mono-tactics nature (so without A Test of Will, Steward of Gondor, or Daeron's Runes ;-).
There is a good willpower start. Not much drawing options before Legolas, Steward of Orthanc or Gandalf are drawn, but the contract allows a very high density of allies that the mono-sphere + cost-reducers (Hirgon, Soldier of Dol Amroth, Beorning Skin-changer) can immediatly pay, so in practice you will never miss cards to play.
The defense department is pretty different here from what one usually sees. There is not an initial dedicated super-efficient defender (Treebeard in 3 copies is not a good idea for that, because with its payment and exhausting it would not defend before the 3rd round anyhow), but there are so many payable allies to chump-block, attack canceling events, strong attachments, hit points and damage canceling, that the deck can setup and swarm pretty easily most of the time.
I modified the Mormegil's version by reducing the number of unique allies, and adding :
- Honour Guard (great to protect the allies defenders like Treebeard, Déorwine, Defender of Rammas, or the heroes facing direct damage or undefended attacks in the early rounds)
- Nori, to recycle Feint or Beorning Skin-changer (who recycle or pay for Beornings), in longer quests or scenarios which shuffle your deck or allow you to switch bottom deck and hands cards (cycle 6)
- Soldier of Dol Amroth as a cost reducer for another ally in phase 2 or a chump-blocker since phase 3 (1-cost with Hirgon)
- Guthlaf for the good ratio real cost / stat, and the thematic trait
- Thalion for a versatility that increases with the number of side-quests. I added Keep Watch in sideboard for the quests that turtle a little or as a way to increase your general defense level.
Your thoughts will be focus on the timing to play the allies you have in your hand. That will depend on the quest and the attachments already put in play by the contract.
