This is a thematic Saruman/ The Grey Wanderer deck that takes advantage of the new Lord of Isengard as a starting attachment. This is designed for solo play, multi-player cards are in sideboard.

Engine: Use Lord of Isengard to dig for Palantir and Saruman's Staff. This allows you to draw extra cards while scrying and using your doom events engine. Contract can be used in the planning phase for ressources and to ready Saruman after using Palantir or Word of Command. You can make double use of the Staff with Rods of the Five cause Saruman readies himself. Keys of Orthanc generate extra ressources. After you have your attachments in play you can dig for any Isengard ally you need.

Questing/Combat: After your engine is set up, you should prioritize getting Strider and at least one one questing ally (Soldier of Isengard/Steward of Orthanc/Isengard Messenger) in to play to cover your willpower. In the early game you can avoid many enemies thanks to your low threat. If you have to engage something you can use The Wizards's Voice or Horns! Horns! Horns!+Gandalf as a panic button or use 1 or 2 copies Reckless Attack to nuke an enemy before it attacks. The latter two are also useful cause they can help you finish of enemies that Sarumans 4 atack can't reach. To defend repeatedly later on you wanna set up a copy of either Orthanc Guard or Ring Wall Sentry with Ancestral Armor, that should gives you two defenses of four per turn. You normally have enough doom events to play one with the doom reduction and another one to ready an Orthanc guard.

You can't lower your threat, so you have to be careful how much you use Palantir or doomed events without the Staff, but with your low starting threat you can take some extra threat.

Mulitplayer: You have to decide as a group if the double Staff use of Rods of the Five or protecting other players threat with Tower of Orthanc is more useful. Legacy of NĂºmenor should be added to give ressources to other players, drop isengard messenger or Waters of Nimrodel if other players have good healing.
