Ooooh I want to play! Long while since I made a Hobbit deck and I like the idea of using Hobbit Gandalf for a change. With all these unique allies, do you see yourself trying for the Fellowship contract card in the new deluxe set?

Yes, the Fellowship contract would be an excellent fit for this deck. It would mean cutting the Wild Stallions from the deck, however, as that contract does not allow non-unique allies. After A Shadow in the East comes out, I’ll post an updated version of this deck.

That's true, Guess it would leave room for other valid mounts that are attachments rather than allies.

Hobbit Pony could fit with the heroes, especially Spirit Merry if his ability isn't needed. Armored Destrier is always nice but relies on Gandalf having Shadowfax in order to gain Sentinel. Arod works on any hero

Oh yeah stupid, Arod won't work on Gandalf! :P

I am so looking forward to Shadow in the East to come out. It would allow a lineup like LeFrodo, Fatty Bolger, and Tom Cotton...or try to fit Folco Boffin in there somewhere. Then allies of Bilbo Baggins, Farmer Maggot, Gaffer Gamgee, Halfast Gamgee, Robin Smallburrow, Rosie Cotton, Sam Gamgee, LeMerry, and TaPippin. The Fellowship contract is durable to play Gaffer Gamgee and use his ability (then technically the contract provides the same stats as Fellowship of the Ring but without the cost and freeing up 1 - 3 card slots). I am looking forward to playing a thematic fellowship deck, but then also an all hobbit fellowship deck. Rise of the Hobbits!

Rise of the Hobbits, indeed! I too am excited about the prospect of pairing Merry and Pippin allies with Tom and Rosie Cotton. At that point, the Hobbit ally archetype will be truly viable.

I really like this. As almost everything in this deck is unique... The Arkenstone would be useful, or you don't really need the boost?

Jun 21, 2019 Beorn 6822

The Arkenstone is a great fit for this deck. I would still include it in the sideboard, as Guarded cards are not the best fit for some quests. In particular, if I play it early and it’s guarded by a large enemy, it has a high opportunity cost, with no real benefit. Once I’m setup, any enemy guarding it will be easier to kill - but at that point The Arkenstone will often be a “win more” card.

This is such a fun deck to play! New cards such as The Shirefolk and Drinking Song really make the difference for Secrecy decks. By the way, in my first game against Across the Ettenmoors I had Gandalf and Beorn both in play riding a Wild Stallion. And Gandalf had Narya. It was epic! Thanks for sharing this awesome funky tool box as you described it in your blog! ;)

I’m glad that it worked well for you. With the action advantage of allies like Gandalf, Gimli and Boromir, the Wild Stallion is a perfect fit for this deck.

This deck is amazing!

Awesome deck. I'm doing all saga quests with it and i'm at 16 wins for 21 attempts so good ratio (with Helm's deep and Pelenor field at first try). For quest with Aragorn, I swapped The Shirefolk with Woodmen's Clearing.
