Franlag 3
I've been playing the game for two months and so far I only played through the Core and Mirkwood cycle quests. I wanted to build a consistent true solo deck for these quests without using cards from other cycles (eventually I'll get acquainted with all the cards but I prefer to do so one cycle at a time). After many tests where I tried different combinations, this is the result.
Due to it's high starting threat, it's not well designed for Journey Along the Anduin (although it can be done with the right initial hand) and Return to Mirkwood. I wouldn't recommend it for Escape from Dol Guldur either.
This deck's strategy is pretty straightforward, as more experienced players will notice.
Denethor's action should be used as often as possible (Unexpected Courage should be attached to him first). Once he gets Protector of Lórien and A Burning Brand he becomes a great defender.
Éowyn quests, obviously, and has a very important role on The Hunt for Gollum: comitting to the Escape tests. For this quest, she should get Unexpected Courage first so she can do both (by doing that I managed to complete that scenario without a single resource token on Gollum).
Glorfindel is a versatile hero, and with Unexpected Courage he can commit to the quest and attack in the same round. He can also take some undefended attacks, being the one with the most .
Gildor Inglorion is the most expensive ally next to Gandalf and I try to use him for his card management ability, unless I need an extra push to my or .
Infighting can be very useful to eliminate enemies in the staging area once you get a big enemy neutralized with Forest Snare (Hill Troll, Hunters from Mordor, Ungoliant Spawn, Marsh Adder, Chieftan Ufthak, etc). If you deal damage to them each round with Mirkwood Runner for example, you can get a nice pool of damage tokens to move to another enemy like Mirkwood Flock or Goblin Sniper and clear some from the staging area in the process. It takes time to set but works really well, and this is not a deck that rushes through quests anyway.
To round up: you could probably come up with something better (and maybe more thematic) using the same card pool, but this deck works, and to me is quite an achievment. Now I can move on to the Dwarrowdelf cycle.
