Attempt to build a (and ) deck based on keeping low and Fastred sending back foes to the bench where Dúnhere hits hard, while Merry goes questing / reducing incoming threat.
Main idea is to put Sword-thain on Guthlaf (discarded via Steed of Imladris or Elven Jeweler and played via Stand and Fight) as soon as possible to unlock the sphere and expand the deck to full capacity.
Restraint attachements :
- Hobbit Pony And Steed of Imladris goes on Merry (Main Quester)
- Double Spear of the Mark on Dúnhere (Attacker)
- Gondorian Shield & Captain of Gondor on Fastred. (Defender)
Ideas for possible improvement :

Replace Merry by Éowyn to be able to discard more freely and questing replace Hobbit Pony with Horn of the Mark ?

Replace Merry by Amarthiúl to unlock Command/Tactic Sphere and be able to play Steward of Gondor on Fastred to fully benefit from the Gondorian Shield. (Amarthiúl is less in the theme here though... and we lose questing power and threat reducer + needs to engage enemies...)

Replace Merry by Dori to unlock tactic sphere and be able to boost Fastred's defence (Not in theme and no more quester) -> then use the Sword-thain on a Faramir to play Steward of Gondor on Fastred also gives the possibility to play a Narvi's Belt on Dori to further enhance his resource pool.

Oct 24, 2022fully agree to if you have acces, try Open the Armory another possibility to boost Dúnhere, if availaible is Herugrim + wp-boost (e.g. The Favor of the Lady and Silver Circlet. if you can get your hands on, the Dagger of Westernesse is also a good weapon at lowthread. |

Éowyn would be far better than Merry. Her Tactics version would be even better if you have it. With only a 2 willpower quester, the deck will struggle in solo. In addition, Fastred makes Merry's threat reduction and low starting threat useless. Arwen Undómiel would also be good to discard Guthlaf. The Stand and Fight and Sword-thain idea is cool but totally impractical. The chance of you getting the needed cards is low and I would be amazed if Foe-hammer has ever triggered in this deck. No offense however. I understand the limitations of a small card pool.
