With Théoden, Éowyn, and Hirgon, you can start questing with a whopping eleven Willpower on the first turn. That's almost guaranteed to allow you to trigger Hirgon's ability and to set you up for success, again, on your next turn. The result is that you can quickly build up a force that has the Willpower, Defense Strength, and Attack Strength to handle just about anything the encounter deck can throw your way.
Card draw becomes critical. Even though Hirgon and The Red Arrow give you the means to play on tempo even while recruiting powerful allies like Boromir and the Eagles of the Misty Mountains, you need to stay ahead of your draw, and this is where Legolas comes into play, as well as the deck's Weapon attachments, Rivendell Blade and Raiment of War, as they can be exhausted with Foe-hammer to grant you even more card draw.
Finally, once you've assembled your army, the deck allows you to charge boldly toward the scenario's end with three copies of the event, Wait no Longer. The Tactics sphere doesn't provide much in the way of cancellation, but it has plenty of muscle to overcome whatever monsters you may face.

Jun 10, 2023Theoden and probably Boromir. 4 defense when defending against higher engagement is pretty nice. I think the odd one is Rivendell Blade as only Legolas can use it. Seems tough to get together. I guess that's why you have three. |
Jun 10, 2023I agree. One or two would be fine I think. If Legolas is the mulligan priority (I would say he is) then the Foe Hammer card draw isn't really worth building around I think. |
Jun 11, 2023i would include few ore weapons, 3 Spear of the Mark and 3 War Axe skip the 3 Rivendell Blade then, with Raiment of War there are 9 weapons or Foe-hammer would discard the Vigilant Dúnadan the cannot get the Raiment of War and only 1 sidequest, they are to expensive, fokus on egales. |
Nice. I've played a similar deck a while back (sans Tactics Eowyn as I dont have her). Westfold Lancers are a nice inclusion. I'm wondering who the Raiment of War is for? Theoden?
