Disclaimer: The story that follows is NOT Tolkien canon. That would be ridiculous.

Backstory

Wilhelm was a boy who loved to build sand castles. His friends Saruman and Gríma referred to him as the Sand Castellan. Drawing inspiration from an island that knew nothing of destructive waves, the Sand Castellan built a great Wall around his castle. He even gave a name to the realm's greatest warrior: Edrik Ravenhelm. His friend declared himself Lord of their castle, but Castellan Wilhelm was content to be Castellan. And once again, the Worthless Worm was forgotten.

The Deck

This is the first deck using Castellan Wilhelm, the new ALeP hero, so I wanted to spend time on this one.

The Starting Hand

In your starting hand, you absolutely want to see Lord of Isengard, at least two allies, and Song of Kings for Saruman. Other helpful cards are Palantir, Saruman's Staff, Legacy of Númenor, and Deep Knowledge.

Gameplay

Lord of Isengard fetches your artifacts for you, comboing with Palantir. Far-sighted facilitates usage of the Palantir, which can be a consistant source of card draw. You want your threat to hit 40 quickly, in order to maximize the Ring Wall A, but after that, you have to take it cautiously. Castellan Wilhelm keeps your threat elimination level out of reach, and Tower of Orthanc spares the other players from threating out.

Defense

The Ring Wall B is the main source of your defense, between Orthanc Guards, Ring Wall Sentries, and Soldiers of Isengard.

Attack

Edrik Ravenhelm can boost his own , along with the of Saruman and any unused defenders.

Questing

Gríma, Castellan Wilhelm, Isengard Messengers, Stewards of Orthanc, Heralds of Anórien, and even Saruman or Orthanc Guards can quest.

Wrap-up

All in all, I hope you enjoy this deck. It doesn't have a ton of healing, but otherwise functions well. It is by no means a One Deck, but at least it will still work while you sit next to CotR Chad (aka TheChap) at a Con! (Thank you Lord of Isengard + Palantir!)

I think this is the firs time, "Other helpful cards are Palantir" has every been said in the context of this game....

I have always enjoyed the Palantir in essence but not in practice. Even as a fairly new player, I tried to use it on Dragncards. I rejoiced when I saw the combo with Lord of Isengard, and the Thematic face the Saruman can gaze into the Palantir with his Far-sight and ready with a Doomed event.
