Frodo Baggins the essential advancing series hero. 2 willpower is not bad, he's not Eowyn :( His ability probably wont be any of use in this scenario, since we want Bilbo Baggins as defender.

Miner of the Iron Hills is essential imho, for Sacked cards.
Dúnhere the sniper, buff him with 3 Dúnedain Mark and kill Trolls without engaging them.
Before going to 2nd phase of quest, have 27 threat level or less.

Oct 15, 2019I made a slight variation to this deck due to only having a single core set, but I won the scenario on my first attempt. Keeping threat low until Bilbo had strong enough defenses to take on the trolls was key. |
Oct 23, 2019@Shackleford For Bilbo to get sufficient defense, he would need all three Dunedain warnings though, and that gets him to 5, rather than the ideal 6 which would ward off troll attacks. How do you survive the trolls under such circumstances? |
By advancing series do you mean progression series? Otherwise I would suggest adding in Gamling, Eothain, Hama, Escort from Edoras, and other such Rohan allies...
